I'm not sure I understand, is the option of tri-amping a requirement on this new system? If so, why? While the dynamics and headroom on a tri-amped system would be excellent of course, I would opt for the most musical and realistic sounding speaker system I could obtain in the budget set whether or not it could be tri-amped. That being said, has anyone mentioned the MBL Extreme? If this is the Ivan Magnum Opus system, I would think this may make the short list especially if a purpose built room is in the cards.

Buck... the MBL Extreme has been mentioned. I have seen, and heard them previously. They didn’t make the impression on me others have shared.

I heard the setup in Singapore and was pretty underwhelmed. I am very curious about your interest in Raidho.

That is somewhat surprising to me, several of us heard a much lower model at RMAF and loved what they do. They sound like nothing else I've ever heard. There is no focused soundstage, but the sound seems to fill the room around you in a way that makes everything sound "live".

I'm sure the Extreme would be simply incredible if set up in a decent room. I guess that's part of your challenge...it's nearly impossible to hear some of these mega speakers at all, let alone in a good environment.

You have to like Omni speakers and how they energize a space to live with these long term. I happen to like omni speakers (listening to Ohm F’s as I write this) and what they do, which is very different than classic multi-driver piston arrays. These are far from everyone’s cup of tea.

Like the d’Agostino gear they are visually very polarizing.

MBL and d’Agostino would be an awesome option if you are going in 100% steampunk, which with the Accuphase mono’s you certainly are not!

Ivan, it takes patience to get exactly what you want. The trip to Italy would be to hear the Se17 in the SF demonstration room. I am encouraged the wait is a year because that means the demand is high (relatively) and that you are getting a truly custom speaker yet one that is selling. Take the trip now, get on the waiting list, and get everything else ready including the room. I am excited and happy for you. I believe it will be worth the wait but you must get started. Don't wind up with some monstrosity.
