Arome cd transformer
Is it really beneficial between a DAC and a massetto preamp? If so, big difference or just subtle?

I'm going to say the Arome is icing on the cake. Nothing dramatic, but it completes the Shindo sound. For the price, you can do a lot worse.

How much are they? Come with the cable or do you have to buy one? Which brand cable ?
Still confused why I might need one Thanks though. I have the question in to Matt. I was reading here that several of you had them and I was confused why it was so necessary. |

Even designed and made by Shindo, I would not put anything but a cable between my MDA1000 and my preamp.
Such a unit may be very useful for digital players who sound....digital. Sent from my iPhone using A.Aficionado

While it did add s little liquid to the sound, I decided mine wasn't necessary and sold it some months back. Primarily to free up funds for my analog project.

Guys, sometimes the Arome CD interface becomes necessary simply because one can experience too much gain with a Shindo preamp and another brand's amp.
This is a quite common situation because most commercially available amps usually don't have a gain input setting (however, Shindo or Air Tight amps do have gain potentiometers). In my case, I tend to reduce the volume level on my Puccini CD player so I don't need the Arome and the extra cables.

I've noticed one on Audiogon that also has a volume control. Seller mentions it can be used as a passive pre. Most times I've read about or seen pictures of the Arome, I've seen it without volume control.

The Arome has a gain control. As Cellindo notes, matching source gain is the primary function of the piece.

The Arome is 1.5K w/o any cable. It has XLR in and RCA out.
