Default 'Tune up' on reference gear

Perhaps an odd question. I am curious if there is a particular time that a component would need to be taken to a repair facility for 'adjustments'-such as bias or whatever else. The manual's make no reference to this so that is why I am wondering.

My old Sansui G-8000 receiver from 1979-80 needs periodic adjustments for cleaning, bias adjustment and so forth. Are newer pieces less likely to fail? I am not having any problems at all but I believe in maintaning my vehicles on a regular basis and would like to do the same for my stereo gear.

Thoughts on this?

I own Naim gear, and Naim Audio recommends sending it in for service and recap every 10 years. I will probably do a recap service on my amp in a couple years. My preamp was checked out before I bought it used.

Not that I'm aware of for Manley or Rega. I do check bias on the Snapper(s) once a month though.

Your Ref Gear is essentially maintenance free, bias is automatic, the volume control is electronic and should not become noisy or require cleaning.

What if you reached a point where the caps needed to be replaced? Where would you take the reference gear?

They may need (or may not) replacement in 10 or 15yrs, by then I may move on to something else. Being a tech I could do it or send it back to Marantz.
