At this point, it's not a big surprise, but the Stratus PC which was on the TV has been on the tuner for a bit, replacing the PS Audio Jewel AC that was there, and I'm hearing a similar sound quality but there's a bit more dimension to the sound than before. Listening to the Columbia University radio station a few times (WKCR) I noticed there seemed to be a bit more depth in the sound. I'm a Dartmouth grad, but I've begun to like the Jazz Alternatives show, so I listen to the "enemy" now and then (league rivalry, you understand). But even my usual NPR seems to offer the same thing. Sound very similar to the Jewel but not as flat—a bit more dimensional.

Meantime, the Stratus 7 is finally in use but not on my MCD301, which has been out for four weeks now; McIntosh has it for repair. I've hooked up my Marantz DV8400 in its place, but can't really evaluate any changes the Stratus 7 may bring given the circumstances.

A few days ago a pair of WW eclipse speaker cables showed up. They are huge and my wife said "what the heck is that???" I said "Uhhh....nothing honey."
Lately I have been disappointed that my new XRT1k's powered by a MC205 sounded great at high volumes, but had severely diminished base and mid's at moderate to low volumes making the system inferior to a boombox in those situations.
Now by the way- I'm a scientist by training. My first career was a bench chemist. I'm am trained to sniff out and avoid the subjective and emotional. I was convinced these 10 gauge cables would make no difference (but the McDisease is very powerful and I did it anyway).
When I hooked up these cables I was given a different system. Bass and mid's are strong and differentiated at all volumes and clarity and imaging is improved. I can't really tell you much about the previous cables except they are not 10 gauge and they are neither low or high end. The improvement is astonishing.

If there are any thoughts on this. . .

My Furman SPR-20i voltage regulator has a 3m Stratus 5.2 on it via 20A adaptor; The Stratus isn't quite long enough to reach the wall, so a 2m Shunyata Venom extension cord gets the Furman to the wall. Everything, including the Furman Elite-15PFi I have, plugs into the SPR-20i. All components plug into either the SPR directly, or into the Elite-15PFi. The Elite-15PFi connects to the SPR via a Stratus 7.

Which of the following scenarios might be best, in theory?

1. Replace the 3m Stratus 5.2 on the SPR with a 3m Aurora 7.

2. Replace the 3m Stratus 5.2 on the SPR with my 3m Aurora 5.2, currently unused.

3. Replace the Venom extension with a 12AWG conventional extension and the 3m Stratus 5.2 with a 2m Aurora 7 or Electra 7. Mind you, the conventional extension is 25ft (way too long, but it, too, sits unused).

4. Buying an adapter which will let me chain the 3m Stratus 5.2 with any other power cord I choose to use, whether in-house or purchased new.

Maybe I'll run this by Wireworld for their thoughts, too.

This option isn't on your list but is it possible to have an electrician relocate your outlet closer to where your gear is positioned? That would simplify things a lot.

No, unfortunately. I rent. There are only three duplexes in here, and the SPR's cord(s) go around behind my LP racks or they'd be even more in the way (see photo 1, excuse dust; the racks are on the left, behind the system). The duplex is on the far left, obscured by the left speaker. If I ran the Stratus straight to the outlet, I wouldn't need the Venom extension, but the Stratus would be exposed and subject to damage or getting tripped over. Photo 2 is the 25-ft extension cord mentioned earlier.

Option #1 is the only one that makes sense to me. There are notable differences between 5.2 and Series 7
