After watching through episode 5, I made the same observation that there is so much more depth to the industry than what we see as fans and consumers.

The writers, sessions musicians, full time bands, roadies, sound engineers, record companies etc are a world unto themselves which we rarely see.

To see Cash and Dylan performing together because they respected each other was a surprise to me. Makes you wonder how interesting other collaborations we don’t know about have influenced what we have heard about our favorite artists.

Default 2 kins o music, country and western

Ive been a fan since the 1970 Jerry Garcia rolling Stone interview. He spoke at length about Dolly Parton, I was hooked. Im glad Burns made this documentary, especially if it gets some new listeners. A word of advice, don't listen to any terrestrial country stations, it may make you suicidal. Burns covered the basics and thats good enough. Outlaw ountry on XM is a excellent channel to hear Americana. Side story. I saw Ernest Tubb in the middle 70's. His latest release was "if dont stop checkin up on me, im checkin out on you".I called up KSAN( former hippie free form now country radio)to request the song. I remember exactly what I was told "the program director has his alligator boots stuck so far up his ass he wouldn't know country if it bit on the ass. I will get fired if I play that"

Watched episode one yesterday - awesome. I’m mostly a country fan (which doesn’t resemble anything heard on country radio stations these days). I will have to make myself not binge all of it this weekend.

I bought the Blu-ray Tuesday. I'm surprised NPR puts it out before the local stations have had a chance to show it all. It has to cut into fundraising.

My wife and I are through Disk/Episode 7. I have to say I have gained a new understanding of Johnny Cash.

Started watching this over the weekend. I'll be watching episode 6 tonight. I'll just add to the praise here; It is simply fantastic.

I have bought a lot of cds the past few days.

Cheers,

Scott

Bought the blu-ray but haven't had time to start on it, unfortunately.
