My vintage system, finally up and running...
Well, this has been a long time coming and a work in progress... but I finally have a full (well almost) vintage system
The Scott 299 was sent back east to Terry DeWict for a full tune up and came back with a dented chassis and broken fuse holder. (NO fault of Terry's) I got sidelined from the project and the little amp sat on a shelf in the back room for 6 months. I finally found someone to fix the fuse holder and now its up and running. Terry did a great job and the unit sounds really great! The little HH Scott is powering some vintage Altec Co-Axial Drivers in the Barzilay cabinets. My only source is a "not so vintage" LINN Axis TT with a LINN Adikt pick up. Still looking for a new, pristine Garrad 301... or Thornes 124 I tried a couple of different CDP's, and not only did they not sound "right" they just upset the look of the old cabinet and the old amp. I am really enjoying the sound of the old tube gear with the Altec speakers. Sounds especially great on the older recordings. Couple of photos: |
