Good advice from our Burmester aficionado Rocco.

But... you have a very good system.
I think it deserves a 089.
They do show up second hand from time to time.
E.g. there is one for 8500€ on audio-markt.de at the moment.
I already bought 2 Burmester devices on that site, and I'm very happy with them.

Another possibility, that will save you some cash: a 102, which gets splendid reviews and bests the 001 and the 061 ("Stereo", a decent German magazine).
Hi Bart. I don't agree with magazine "Stereo". With a good friend of mine we demoed in his own system (full Burmester stack with 948's, 032 and B25) side by side the 102, 061 and 001. The 102 and 061 sound almost at the same level, even the 061 is little more natura/refined at the top octaves. The 001 sounds much better at all compared with 061 and 102. To improve the nice sound of the superb 001's you've to point out the 089's.

Ciao

Help!

I'm going down that slippery slope again!

Burmester had helped to speak to the agent to reduce the cost of the repair, but then they also tried to entice me to trade-in the faulty 001 and 038 for a new 089.

Unfortunately, for almost 3 times the cost of the repairs, I succumbed!

When it comes this Friday, I need to try to explain to the wife how the 089 is actually the 001, and convince myself that there is a huge jump in sound quality to justify the money I spent on a CD player, or that I am actually buying a very good DAC to eventually connect digital sources like a future music server?

Did I see a 108 power conditioner? Would 911s in mono be a big jump?

Help! I'm sliding!

Hi,

In my view, going from one 911 to monos was a substantially big jump.....the drive, transient response, bass slam and the openness of soundstage are in a different league. More power does corrupt more, t least in this case!
