Default Big Change

Ok, I traded my friend a pair of my AudioQuest XLR for a pair of his WireWorld Eclipse 5 (I think) I.C's. I swapped my WireWorld Equinox 6 cables and WOW, what a change in sound. My system really opened up. (80% improvement)
So, now im thinking if its best to upgrade to WireWorld Eclipse 6 series throughout or if I would get a another large jump in quality moving to the Silver Eclipse 6 line?
There is a HUGE diff. between the equinox and eclipse IMO. for me, worth the expense, but are the Silver Series going to make another huge improvement and be worth the extra expense? Hope that makes sense.
P.S. the Eclipse 5 are slightly bright, I lost some bass which was easily fixed with adjustments and my sub. Anyone compared the equinox with the silver eclipse? was it worth the extra $1000's? I would be upgrading all 5 or 7 XLR I.C. to match.

crytklmass.......Sounds like you like what you are hearing right now. Why not spend some time with the present cable setup, and let the performance improvements you are enjoying settle in before making more changes.

Having said that, I can tell you that I noticed a definate improvement in the overall sound between the Wireworld 5.2 Silver Eclipse, and the 6.0 Silver Eclipse balanced interconnects. I found the 5.2 series to bright for my taste, and caused me listener fatigue in less than an hour of listening. When I auditioned the 6.0 series I discover a much smoother, more uniform presentation across the audio spectrum, with excellent transient response, well defined details in the bottom, midrange, and high frequencies, and zero listener fatigue. I now use the Wireworld balanced 6.0 Silver Eclipse interconnects on the main system and the tube system with excellent results. Of course, sound is a highly subjective experience, and my impressions may not be the same for you.

I agree, been listening all day. the Eclipse 5.2 do seem a tad too bright for me, but I love the overall improvements. I was hoping the 6.0 series would dim some of the brightness but still allow the improvement in the soundstage, accuracy, etc. I like to watch movies loud. No less than 35 on the volume. Small room. Music volume just depends on mood and If I want to hear the phone ring. lol
The bass was hitting so hard earlier my lights were dimming. Pushed the MX-136 to volume 50 and my MC 501's almost to the max. Not sure if im the only person here that listens to heavy metal. Korn, Slipknot, Metallica, etc. I also enjoy other artist's and genre's. That's the challenge with my system. Trying to reproduce my vast library of music taste's and watch movies.

If you don't mind me asking, what model Audioquest XLR's did you trade to your friend?

Jaguar. I've been playing around (switching) between Transparent ultra, WireWorld equinox and now Eclipse 5.2. I think I made a good trade. He likes Audioquest cables. The 2m Jaguars cost alot less than 3m Eclipse. But if you don't like it in your system, it doesn't matter how much it cost.

I initially had the 5.2 Silver Eclipse and found them to be very fatiguing on my ears also. Moved back to the 6.0 Eclipse, could be 5.2 don't recall at this point but the copper wire is more pleasing to me.

I didn't try the Silver Eclipse 6.0 but hearing what Dan is saying perhaps I gave up on silver too soon.

Gordon.......It is interesting that you found the Wireworld 5.2 Silver Eclipse interconnects fatiguing. Besides my comments to the same, there have been a number of others who have responded with the same impression. Since you find the 6.0 Eclipse all copper interconnect more pleasing, you may want to stay with them. On the other hand, I reinstalled my trusty Tributaries Silver Series balanced interconnects after returning the Wireworld 5.2 cables, and was comfortable with their familiar sound, but when I auditioned the Wireworld balanced 6.0 Silver Eclipse interconnects I discovered improvements in imaging, and transparency, with midrange and high frequency details that shimmered without the fatigue of the 5.2 series cables. The 6.0 Silver Eclipse interconnects sound better, and more open than the Tributaries Silver Series. I installed the Wireworld 6.0 Silver Eclipse balanced interconnects on the main system and the tube system. I am thoroughly satisfied with their sound in both of these systems.

Dan, I honestly don't believe I'll be changing IC's any time soon. The copper are just right for me. I'm more interested in the small tweaks now. The Symposium Roller balls, BDR Pucks and things like this are now what is attracting me.

Wires are not totally out of the loop. I'm considering trying the PAD Venustas on my speakers since they apparently work well with ESL's. Time to call the CableCo for wires or Ivan for some isolation on the subs!

Ever wonder why we're never done?!

Dan, one of these days I'll send you a pair of Gold Eclipse 6.0's to play with...
