I was always interested in the SLP-05, but without input select on the remote it was a deal killer. This one has been out for quite awhile, I wonder if they are going to come out with another top model soon?

My SLI-80 also suffers from the same "problem", as did the predecessor Bryston preamp. However, I switch between sources so infrequently that the odd stroll across the room is probably good for me.

Do you guys think the SLP-05 would make a good preamp for a primarily jazz listener? Or should I go for something a little "sweeter" such as the SLP-98? Thanks!

I listen to a lot of jazz with my SLP-05 and I never regret it.

Eric, I just got the pre back last week. On its first trip back to me fedex mishandled it and one of the caps lost its connection with the PCB. I now have about 75 hours on the caps and they are still breaking in. I think it will take another 2-300 hours before I really know how it sounds. It is enjoyable now but I expect the sound to open up quite a bit more.

Anytime I have to ship a nice piece of electronics I always am concerned about the shipping. I will be sending the SLI-80 in one of these days to complete all of the F1 upgrades....I am considering a triple box.....
