Default Kenrick Sound Yamaha NS-1000M

Ok...so I'm getting older! My hearing is still just fine and I have my health, all good.

But...I'm able to see the goal line now, I don't like being beyond the mid-point and gaining ground on the "final stand".

So here it is - you only go around once, right!?. Many years ago I would lust after my buddies Yamaha MS-1000M's, he also had the NS-2000 - the 2000's only came out occasionally. But those NS-1000m's driven by a Class 'A' solid state amp would make music like no other I can remember back in the 80's.

Well, this Kenrick Sound group is restoring and upgrading Yamaha NS-1000M's, and finishing them in just sweeeeeeet colours. I keep returning to their website, I keep picturing those Yammy's in my "man-cave"...I keep....ah, you get the point.

So ya, I can afford newer more expensive speakers, but would they be better than those Yammy's...and how much does nostalgia play in what we hear?

C'mon, help an undecided fella make a good decision.

What say you?

Rick.

I think most here know I love Mustangs, and many times have lusted for a 68-1/2 428CJ. However I wouldn't want to drive one everyday. The modern cars are much better, handling, brakes and hp/cubic inch. And so it goes with speakers.

Part of the glorious sound from those speakers and used in may recording
studios in the day, is the berillium midrange driver. Domes are not very
common (PMC, ATC aside) for mids, but even more rare would be domes
made of berillium --very light and very stiff. The tweeters are also berilium
actually.

I've been looking for the midrange on ebay for a while, but I haven't taken
the plunge. I hear from the DIY community that is not very easy to integrate
with other drivers.

The NS-2000 looks gorgeous by the way.

Well, I am making plans (with fellow NS1000M past owners) to go for a pair of Mocha colored NS1000M's. Like you, nostalgia rules my heart and mind (and probably soul too).

As for the NS2000's, these are rare stuff and seldom one can see a pair, not to say MINT ones.

From their website, they are doing an excellent job in restoring them to their glory and with new colors too! ++!

Those speakers were so ahead of its time, they still sound good today. They started using berilium diaphrams, I think just before anyone else did.

Back in the days they were accused of sounding bright and hard, but that was how the amps in the 80s sounded. Drive them with a sweet sounding Class-A amp or a SET amp, and they will sound glorious.

Dan... I see you got into the Kenrick Sound Youtube channel! I lost a whole Sunday morning watching those!

I wish Kenrick Sound would reach out to AA and become a sponsor or something to make the connection with more people that are interested in their pricing and policies.. hint hint..

Bill
