Sad and scary but oh so true. Furthermore, software quality probably driven by cost concerns and the use of offshore development at lowest price.

I agree that it is something that is necessary yet poorly executed as of now. There is no way that you can properly maintain "paper medical records" for 350 million living Americans. Then there is the matter of what and when to dispose of same.

Epic, Cerner and other big medical records companies are generally using closed systems and proprietary software and databases.

In other words they are out-of-date and ripe for innovation.

Privacy concerns aside, if the big modern cloud systems companies paid attention to this they could fix it.
