Hey Stephen,

That is kind of you, thanks -

Another witness to Matt's excellence - Matt shepherded me from a Monbrison / Montille through to a Masseto / Cortese in 3 easy steps over a couple of years through his music-lover friendly trade up program.

Charles, did you happen to upgrade to the Massetto without changing anything else at that time. If so, was there a particular thing that struck you as being better than the Monbrison. I have had my Monbrison for a few years now, and am very happy with it. I have heard the Cortese a few times, and it's a great sounding amp. I have not heard my Corton's in the same room/system to make a fair A/B, but again, am also quite happy w/ my CC 34's. Cheers, Don

fjn04,

There is a song by a fellow Houston, Texas native named Archie Bell of Archie Bell and the Drells called "Tighten Up". from 1968. Moving directly from the outstanding Monbrison to the Masseto didn't change the highs, lows, mids....(as if that really mattered ), but everything Tightened Up and grooved just a little more.

I am sorry that I cannot give you a description of the sound that does justice to the improvement, but my Masseto swings, sways and swoons with just a little more heart. The Masseto provides more of what I look for in music. Of course, the Monbrison provided much more than it's solid state predecessor and it lacked for nothing - I just got seduced by the Masseto providing more of what I loved in the Monbrison. That, and the fact that Matt makes it so easy.

* Opps, Butterfingered that last attempt, please disregard.
Charles, I greatly appreciate that description. There isn't much I would want to change about the Monbrison, so your report is a positive. BTW, I saw on the other thread you may upgrade your Super 8's in the future. The future could loom interesting for you, with the new 0/93's, and forthcoming 99's...! That said, I am sure things are sounding very fine as they are. Cheers, Don
