That's always good advice. If it sounds better,it is better.

Wow a lot of celebrating this weekend.
Congratulations, always amazed how quiet EAR stuff is. So the EAR plays well with the Ayre then?

The EAR 324 is continuing to break in nicely. I'm starting to understand and appreciate its strengths of a being a very transparent phono stage with very little sonic character of its own. It simply gets out the way and allows the sonic signature of the cart/tonearm combo to shine through. What I like about it the most is that it opens up the "windows" into the recording and allows the music to come pouring out in a very uncolored way while it doesn't lean out the sound in any solid state way nor coloring the sound like the Bellari tubed phono stage.
The transients are well preserved and are rendered the best the cart/tonearm can do pulling them from the grooves. The rich and slightly warmish Maestro Wood cart sounds more expressive and emotional with the 324 while the Bellari tubed phono stage just makes it sound artificially warm with rounded/blunted transient response by comparison. Some records leave me speechless with this combo as the harmonic content, purity of tone with just a sprinkle of warmth and richness of the mids from the Maestro wood along with the crisp dynamic/transient response comes pouring forth from well recorded material. Most enjoyable! |

Serge.......Sounds like the Maestro Wood is turning out to be a star performer, too.

It has fit into my system better than I would have imagined. The system is very synergistic right now with all the components complimenting each other very well. Makes me question the need to go to an MC cart.

Go audition some MC pickups at your dealer and hear the differences. Most don't return to MM pickups after switching to MC pickups.

Then there's no need to go any further, stick your current MM pickup.
