Thank you one and all. I did manage to get my rack level so the magic green rag is gone. I am finally getting rewarded for being a prissy pack rat. I have a lot of albums from 40 years ago and they are in surprisingly good shape.
Someone asked how vinyl + BAT + Wilson sounded? SUBLIME |

As I play more and more, I am realizing that (1) the table is not broken in, (2) I may not have it set up optimally and (3) I need to wash the records. It is sublime in the sense of a glorious mid-range - that "liquid" quality that I remembered from the old days. But in some ways my CD's sound better. Of course it may be a matter of the recording engineering used in each instance, rock was shaky at best and lately I buy CD's that are well recorded. Guess I will have to play a couple hundred albums and then decide.

Congratulations on your new purchase. You picked a very nice table. I am sure it will give you many hours of pleasure. Sounds like you have plenty of albums. All you need now is a good record cleaning machine and a stylus brush.

I am embarrassed to say I have both and have been too lazy to use them yet. Or too anxious to hear the old albums.

Here are some pics with the "green leveling cloth" removed because I finally got the rack level.

If you haven't done so yet try backing off on the front gain knob to around the 3 oclock position or even a bit less.....some find it to be a better setting. anyway enjoy your new rig
