The finish on the woodwork, and fake leather is the same. I think its the metal parts that makes the design go forward.

The sound from the new speakers from SF are still as subtile as before but i think it is more open and dynamik.

But still, the Guarneri Memento is a tremendous speaker though its a costly small one and even compared to floor standings.

Some more pics.

Differences in floorconections:

Differences in cableconections:

Some bonuspics. The Sonus Faber and Guarneri Evolution.

I was under the impression the newer generation has better finish. Guess they all have pretty awesome finish.

Apexorca.......I'm not sure where your information came from that leads you to comment about the Sonus faber baffles being covered in fake leather. It is not fake. The baffles on the entire Homage line are covered in leather. My previous SF Guarneri Memento's and my current Amati Anniversario's feature leather covered baffles. The Sonus faber owner's manuals state: "The front panels are an amorphous material lined with leather, creating an ideal housing for the speakers, both as a pneumatic seal and to muffle vibration." Just thought you might like to know this about these two wonderful speakers.

Thats what i also thought when i first laid my hands on SF Futuras, it smells and feels like leather. They speak about leather and its called so. But it´s bondet leather. They could not get the right look and the same look every time with "normal" leather. It was imposible to get leather who looked the same all the time and they want´s every speaker to have the same leather look. This bonded leather has also better qualities over time. Therefore they use this bonded leather.
"In 2011 the European Committee For Standardization published EN 15987:2011 'Leather - Teminology - Key definitions for the leather trade' to stop further confusion about bonded leather. The minimum amount of 50% in weight of dry leather is needed to use the term 'bonded leather'. The Federal Trade Commission, Washington, USA recommends according to 16 C.F.R. Section 24: "For example: An industry product made of a composition material consisting of 60% shredded leather fibers may be described as: Bonded Leather Containing 60% Leather Fibers and 40% Non-leather Substances."
Read more - Bonded leather - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
I know that because a friend of mine were visiting Sonus Faber in Vicenza as early as 2004 and they had a tour and lectures. They got this information from Giovanni B. Menato who was chief of Marketing. I don´t think they changed this so it´s still bondet leather.

I am unsure of this as well though one source claims they have moved to synthetic leather. See SF Club | Visiting the Sonus faber factory
Maybe Bill can clarify. Either way, it appears to be very "real" if it is indeed fake.

tunes.......I can't absolutely swear the material on the Sonus faber Homage line is leather, but I see no reason for SF to intentionally misdirect owners in the owner's manual. One thing for sure, I'm not taking a knife to my $30K Amati Anniversario's baffles to find out for sure. I can only go by what is printed in the owner's manual.

NOTE: Now that I have seen the photos and read the information provided in the SF factory tour link you provided, I can see where it is said that Sonus faber changed to synthetic leather on the baffles, so it is probable that my Anniversario baffles are in fact synthetic leather, although I am not absolutely positive, since mine may have been built before the change from real leather. Either way, the speakers are beautiful.

I recently bought the GE together with 1 REL G1. I came from complete McIntosh system + Quad ESL 2905. Actually, it took me a lot of money and time to get to a"significant better" sound. I am there now. I auditioned several brands, tubes and solid state. Finally, I preferred powerful solid state amplification (pass labs xa160.5) together with an Ayon cd 5s directly running into the amps! Yes, no separate preamp anymore. Listen more and more to my tt (VPI classic 1 with upgraded arm classic 3, Benz micro Gullwing) after I bought RCM sensor prelude phono.
The GE is an amazing speaker, I heared so many speakers and I thought I would need to live with the Quads forever ... But this monitor is special! It has all the beauty that I loved with the Quads, but then now I have bass and can listen loud. Soundstage and separation are better. Just so musical now with class A amplification and tube cd/preamp source.
