Default Garrard 301........as good as they say?

Just found an early hammertone one.

Are these as good as they say?

This one sounds pretty good!

Yes they are!

Caveat: they need to be serviced first & there are many aftermarket solutions which are worth looking into. Make sure there is someone close to you who knows how to service them.

I have a 401, love it, and will get a 301 when funds allow.

My 401 stomped all over my Oracle Delphi- its wasn't funny.

Thanks for the straight answer!

It’s on its way! I posted about it in another forum and some guys who have never heard one lost there minds because “Is ancient technology! Can’t possibly sound good!”

The guys who have heard one said they love them!

Thanks again.

Lost their minds...hmmm...now what forum could that be?

They sound great when modded and refurb'd appropriately.

Yeah, the guy who started that forum was kicked off it.

The story’s he had.

The threads are all over the place.

Mental illness is real. The statistics can’t be good. They are bad among the general population, but I can only imagine.

I think maybe it’s a good thing that certain types of people sit in front of a computer all day. Cheaper than the other options.

Cheers

Nice TT. Good luck with it. Art Dudley of Stereophile has a Garrard and would be a good source for "sources" (info, parts, etc.).

Ask AD if he can get you the new $1395 spindle bearing he likes so much at reviewer's pricing. I'll probably end up with one of those Sorane TA's he has reviewed so highly.
