You see it on the mid right-side of the 6 as a white protrusion with nine holes, five over four. It's a common connector with a small footprint. Canna read its label but there is also one on the back of the GSPre identified as 'RS-232 control'. RS232 is a standard for serial data transmission. It could be an input for updating the linestage's operating system or possibly for diagnostics. Could be wrong but I'm (again) vaguely recalling the computer on the REF 5 ran on a version of Windows. Someone else may know better.

The DB-9 was used as a serial port on earlier PCs for peripherals, eg as an early mouse port or for a serial printer. Several connectors for these purposes have come and gone to where nowadays that interface is USB. It may also be called a DE-9, but asfain they're the same.

I know what rs 232 is, but you really lost me with the "ref 5 runs on Windows" comment. No freaking way, man.

Meh! Unless there are, as yet, undisclosed sonic improvments to be discerned from componant or circuit evolution and We're the 6 to depress the price of 'One careful Lady driver' 5se's even further, I would still recommend the latter to folks looking to move up from LS or Ref3.

Agreed. I really do like it. Given that the price didn't change (ok maybe a little...was it 1k?), I am thinking of upgrading. Of course, I'll do an audition first and report my findings here.

I 'm in ! But hey, the PCB is so green. So conventional green. And even more tubes. But I will wait to see the two chassis version of this new face Reference. Toga

Someone who moved from the 5SE to the GSPre said it sounded less tubey and more solid state.

I don't know if this will be in the same progression.

And what is " premium 6H30" ?
In specifications, it says 6H30P.
The rest of specifications doesn't have anything special.
Just similar to any other ARC preamp.

Latest spec is now published on Mono Stereo News.
I hope they can apply this new circuit into true dual mono lie Ref40/10 without going 3 chassis.
I will be waiting.

Toga
