Possibly going for MC1.25KW even thought it could be overkill for the 803D3 I currently use - soon to be upgraded to 802D3. The only change would be if Mcintosh releases something smaller - MC601 v2? - soon.

Exactly! Overkill is over rated, at AA it is just the new normal. [emoji4]

are you worried about possibly blowing out the 803D3s? They are listed to be only to handle 500w, max. I'm struggling with the exact same issue right now with the same speakers..leaning towards the 601s tho

I've owned the 601's and liked them. I get to hear the 2301's on my friends system with 800D2 speakers. Also hear the MC1200 amps a lot too, though they are getting old. IMO I would buy the 2301 amps with the B&W speakers (or any speakers) in a heartbeat. They are wonderful amplifiers.

It’s a very tough decision. The MC2301 are probably the best choice BUT they are quite old now. Since I am not going to keep the amps “forever” the brand new MC1.25W seems to be the most logical choice for me - and they can probably drive almost everything speaker wise, which I also like to change.

Agreed but my pre-amp is the C1100 and cables are Audioquest Redwood.

I will though give it another thought between the MC2301 and the MC1.25KW.
