Hi space mikey,

I face the same problem here in Singapore. I have devore silverbacks driven by a masseto/montrachet combo but always yearn for a single ended shindo like the cortese to drive my speakers. So I am always for the lookout for a used one and it's been a long wait. I guess if your listening room is not too big, the cortese should work fine.

Shindo is designed for high efficiency and high impedance speakers. Take a look at what Shindo himself designed for his products in regards to speakers, maybe that will help people understand a bit better the concept of a Shindo system.

I am able to purchase a used VR preamp , however, there are no local dealers in my country, I have to rely on all your kind suggestions and experience to assist me to acquire the right Shindo Lab power amp.

Will the Cortese F2a able to drive my 93db Tannoy Kensington SE, or another power amp is more suitable.

I greatly appreciate all your suggestions. Thank you.

Sorry for the delay in replying. Just caught this post.

One of our esteemed members PHC1 (aka Serge) owned both a Cortese and the Kensingtons ... I am pretty sure at the same time, so he might be able to answer your question. My guess is that, unless you have a huge room, it will work great. I am using mine with 90db Tannoy Sandringham and rarely push it past the mid-point in volume.

Alberto is right as usual, and as I clearly recall Serge loved the combination.

Thanks for the reply, I was away on a scuba diving trip. I managed to purchase a used VR. Now I have to wait for the power amp to show up.

I guess Shindo must have a few of them for the WE300B owners. Apart from Shindo, they are almost impossible to find.
The GL reissue are amazingly good BTW. Shindo chose them for the D'Yquem amps. And I tried a pair in my 300B preamp. They are terrific and do not cost a fortune.

I can apply this statement to many things, I suppose.....but I am kicking myself for not sticking up on WE tubes when they were "affordable" 10 years ago.

Of course, I thought they were pricey then, but, wow, have they gone up!
