New sabrina vs used Sasha 1
Hi Im moving from Sonus grand Pianos to hopefully Wilson audio. I have a choice of either a new Sabrina and a used Sasha 1. The Sasha 1 is being sold by $1,000 more than the new Sabrina.
1. Feel free to chime in which one to get 2. Assuming i get the Sasha 1, as used speakers, what maintenance/repair and cost am i looking at 5-10 years down the road Last edited by sandbites; 01-22-2020 at 12:02 PM. |

As a current owner of the Sashas (version 1), I can't imagine there would be much maintenance cost for the speaker even 5-10 years down the road. Prior Watt/Puppy versions had problems with the foam diffraction pads breaking down. I believe this has been remedied with the newer (e.g. Sasha) models. The two speakers you're considering are quite a bit different. IMO, the overall performance of the Sasha is better than the Sabrinas especially in the bottom end. The Sashas may overwhelm a smaller room. I'm surprise that the Sashas v1 (used) you're considering would cost $1000 more than new Sabrinas. The Sasha v2 may be more than new Sabrinas. I see Sashas v1 going for much less than Sabrinas on the used market. Either way, you can't go wrong with Wilsons.

Since Sabrina has the newer tweeter, it will sound more refined in the mids/highs in a small-ish room. If you have a larger room and higher power amps, I feel the Sasha's will give you a bigger presentation and fill that room better.
Since I see metaphacts is chiming in, he would be the ultimate authority on this, but that would be my take. Think about your room/amplification and what you desire more, refinement in upper registers or a larger sound. |

What is the size of your room?

15.5 x 16.5 feet. But there are built in cabinets that run along both sides of the long wall so effective area is 11.5 feet x 16.5 feet..My McIntosh mc275 in step will drive it for the next couple of years.

Ok, given your room size and amp size, i'm voting for Sabrina. However I just looked it up and the Sasha is actually a better sensitivity for you. I'd like to hear Bill aka metaphacts opine on how well Sabrina would work with a single MC275. That's not a lot of power.

I had my Sasha 1's in a 15 X 20 X 9 (ceiling) room and had some trouble with the bass overloading the room at times. I know people are using Sasha's in smaller rooms, but if it were me I would also go for the Sabrina. The Titanium tweeter can get fatiguing on the Sasha 1 as well.
