I also had a bad feeling about this when I first heard Williams' soundtrack work for Star Wars. Homage?

Searing performances and very good sound. I bought the disc for $1.99, but I plan to get Leinsdorf's CD box set as there is a fair amount of surface noise and a few nasty clicks.

I also hear Wagner's influence in Star Wars.

The list of classical music Mr Williams has plagerized is long. So much so that if you google that subject its all over the internet. I suspect that despite his considerable success that other composers consider him a fraud. My favorite film composer is Michael Giachino who I find exhibits a level of creativity far beyond the grasp of Williams.

Excellent playing and sound. The SACD audio does show that DG can make good recordings on occasion!

I can't speak to that and I've only heard a few of his soundtracks, but this LP from 1982 is all orchestral and while perhaps not high symphonic art, it is quite enjoyable.
