MX 121 or MX151's built in graphic equalizer
I know the MX121 comes with a 9 band equalizer plus bass & treble controls. Has any one used them and how effective have they been correcting problems? I have a recording engineer friend who thinks I need help in the mid-range area of my B&W 801 Nautilus speakers.

they should be reasonably effective if they are centered on a frequency that works for you - all the correction is done in the digital domain

The Audyssey in the MX121 and the Room-Perfect in the MX151 should handle it. The limited graphic EQs in most processors are rarely useful for speaker or room correction as their filters are not adjustable or flexible.

I have MX150 and B&W 801 Nautilus. I did the RoomPerfect calibration and then did do some experimenting with custom voicings. I origianlly had the mid range slightly higher (but only minimally). However, I have now gome back to a neutral setting.

I have the 121 and did not like the ARC so I don't have it on. I used the equalizer to boost the bass a bit at the beginning but after the 121 breaking in and adding the anaconda to the wall and another to the mc205 through the Hydra 8 I went back to the original settings (of course my f113 didn't hurt either). From the Oppo, I've never found a need to mess with any eq settings.
