Thanks for that info and pics Dan--I have two of these--better start limbering up for checking the battery assault--not salt and battery --Ha!
Did'nt realise the Front folds down--frankly been reluctant to touch anything incase something goes awry. Their previous service record /etc /ahem(!) was noted--but my recent dealings with Damian have been exemplary and 100% forthright and encouraging--kudos! Des |

Des.......The batteries weigh five pounds each and the tray weighs about five pounds. It isn't unmanageable. Make sure you remove the power cord from the PurePower 2000 and unplug the battery harness. Until the battery harness is unplug their is dangerous voltage inside the unit even when unplugged from the AC power.
Once the new batteries are installed and the PurePower 2000 is powered on you can test the transfer to battery backup by momentarily pressing and releasing the Power button. The PurePower 2000 will transfer to battery for about 10 seconds, then return to regenerated power from the utility power. I tested the transfer to battery power twice tonight with my studio system powered up and it just kept right on playing. Gotta love backup power.

Just an aside have you ever had to adjust the Trimpot on the Bottom left hand Grill opening for Amplifier Transformer hum?-- I may have use it -- turn left or right --or is it trial and error? Des Last edited by DesW; 01-09-2017 at 04:24 AM. Reason: addendum |

Des.......Yes, I adjusted that trim pot when I first installed the Purepower 2000 because it caused a slight hum in the MC2301's power transformer. A minor adjustment of that trim pot silenced the issue immediately. I have never had to adjust it again.

Des.......Make the adjustment by turning the pot left or right until the hum disappears. Make small adjustments at a time, not large turns.

The Purepower 2000 is a great unit and I'm glad you found a way to give it new life with quality batteries without risking sending it back to Richard and Damian thus entrusting them at all with your equipment. I owned a 2000 a few years ago with very fond memories of the great sounds it brought about in my system when plugged in and even better when I unplugged it playing my system totally off the batteries. That was/is an amazingly well designed and good sounding unit.

SCAudiophile.......I agree with you. It has been years since the PurePower 2000 was installed in the studio sound system. I have become accustomed to its improvements and would not want to be without it.
