Third Power Plant Premier

My third PS Audio Power Plant Premier arrived this morning. While waiting for the FedEx truck, I checked the FedEx website, and it showed the package delivered, but I never saw the truck. My driveway is about 350' long in an S curve, and I can't see the gate from the house, so I walked down to the electric gate, which I had opened this morning about 8:30 AM. There was my box, inside the gate off to the right, laying on the ground in a plastic bag. Thanks a lot FedLazy. FedEx and UPS always drive up to the house, so I have no idea what got into this FedEx driver this morning. It's a good thing I checked.

It didn't take long to unpack the PPP, and install it in the studio sound system. I plugged it into the wall with all components connected to it (MC352, C2300, MCD500, MR85), turned everything on, and let it burn in for three hours before I played any music.

I just spent the last two hours spinning CD's, and the system sounds fantastic. The sound stage improved in both width and depth, with all intruments and voices seeming to float in three dimension between the speakers. There was a noticable improvement in the apparent space between voices and instruments. The Power Plant Premier was definately working its magic on the studio system. It has no problem handling all the connected load. After two hours, with the MC352 outputing 50 to 150 watts, the PPP was only warm to the touch, and the fans never came on. PS Audio's Power Plant Premier makes a terrific upgrade to any audio system.

Extra Nice!! The Rack layout appropriately symbolizes the PPP as the foundation of the system. I am still amazed at the difference clean power can make.
Side Question Dan: Would you recommend I get the Wireworld power cords to replace the stock cords (4) for the Duet and PPP?? I would need to take the money out of my 90 year old Mother's ceramic piggy bank when she was asleep.

Howard.......You put the tough questions to me. First, why are you using the Duets? If you don't need the two duplex receptacles on the Duet, I would power the components directly from the PPP, and the two PPP's directly from the dedicated wall outlets.

I am assuming you have Silver Electra power cords on the two MC1.2Kw amps. If you eleminate the Duets, then all you would need is two more Silver Electra power cords for the two Power Plant Premiers. This is the way I have both of my systems set up. I have Wireworld Silver Electra power cords on every McIntosh component except the MR85 tuners. I also have Silver Electra power cords on the XLS112 sub in the main system, and the JBL LSR6312SP sub in the studio. There is no doubt I went off the deep end, but I was committed to powering everything with the power cords that wooed me so much on the power amps. I did not want any weak links.

So you want my answer? Buy the four Wireworld Silver Electra power cords if you must use the Duets, otherwise buy two Silver Electra power cords, and sell the two Duets to offset the cost of the power cords.

If you are very careful, you can probably glue your mom's ceramic piggy bank back together after breaking it.

I have the Duets strictly as an added surge protection for the PPP's and all the Macs connected to the PPP's. In the severe thunderstorm season I will unplug the video equipment from the PPP and power directly from the Duet and then pull the power plug from the PPP's which will mean my Macs will be completely isolated from any power source during a storm or when I am not home. We get some incredible storms here in South Florida as you must in your area. Ivan is correct. I have cracked that Piggy Bank a few times and have become pretty adept at using super glue. Believe me, you don't mess with Mom - 4' 10"" of pure power.

On the bottom about 5" from left corner & 5" from front. Use a small screwdriver.
