All in due time. Great systems aren't built overnight and if they are, chances are it's not going to be so great. It's a slow, methodical progress with some trial and error along the way. The saying the "chain is only as strong as the weakest link" gets repeated over and over again and it is very, very true in audio.

Room treatments will go a long way to allowing one to hear the differences. As are other very important things such as power conditioning, vibration control, proper speaker positioning. When the conditions are not yet ready, don't bother with power cords although they can and do make a bigger difference than ICs sometimes, you will simply not be able to appreciate it.

Another thing about Transparent is that yes, their products are expensive but they are serious products. The good thing is that while I have not heard their lower end power cords, I did hear the lower end ICs and they had much to offer of their more expensive versions and it is not a linear relationship. The Opus MM line is not 30x better than their $360 MusicLink Plus ICs for example but for a dedicated audiophile who has the $$$$$ to spend on Opus, nothing short of it will do. The MusicLink Plus is probably 85-90% of what the Opus is but that last 10-15 percent is oh so important when building a "no holds barred" system.

I've gone from MusicLink SE to balanced SuperMM2 and it was a significant improvement. almost four times the cost and probably that much better, made much easier to swallow with the upgrade promo they had going on last winter.

Transparent upgrade program has always been that when moving up to a higher line, they give you 70% of your orginal purchase price for the cable you are sending back and placed towards the purchase of the new cables.

I agree it certainly makes jumping up easier to swallow. Cant get 70% on Agon.

Last winter, they were offering that same deal on any cable, any manufacturer. So, the non-Transparent owner could get in the game at a discount...i wonder how successful it was?

I have been auditioning PS Audio's new Perfect Wave power cords; the AC10 & AC12. They sound very, very good; however not as good as the Silver Electra's.

I also like the Electra's flexibilty much better. The Perfect Wave cables are a bit pricier & more difficult to manage; due mainly to their massive thick construction. The AC12 is thicker than a garden hose.

Ivan.......I commend you for offering us your truthful opinion on the Perfect Wave power cables. Since you sell both PS Audio and Wireworld, it would be easy to blow smoke in the interest of sales. Thank you for doing the comparison, and offering an honest opinion.

Someday, I need to hear those Electra's myself, must be special with all the love around here for them
