About 1 1/2 years ago, I realized what vinyl had to offer and bought a turntable (ironic after replacing LP's with CD's for close to 30 years, I'm now replacing CD's with LP's).

From there I became intrigued in tube potential and a listen to a 2500 pre amp hooked me so coupled with McIntosh's upgrade program traded my C41 pre and have been extremely happy.

Now I am considering a new amp. I am just in the research stage but seem to have narrowed it to a 452 or continuing with tubes and going with either one or two 275's.

I have read much on these amps here and have spoken via email with my dealer. Any insight is much appreciated prior to my audition.

Thanks!
Keep the 352 and enjoy it. It's a fantastic amp. Get LED's installed (Call Ryan @AC's) and a pair of Ivan handles = Good as new......I just saved you about $5,000 trading for a 452

JWJW-

Well, this is certainly an interesting twist! Might I ask for a little more detail in your thoughts on this?

Another idea could be "bi-amping." The 352 on the lows and a 275 on the mids & highs. Thoughts from anyone?

How do you like the new 75's JWJW?

Thanks all!

That would be a great combo too as the 352 has plenty to drive the low end and the new 75s IMOP would give a cleaner top end sound

OMG.... I just found Audio Classics. I have been out of the audio world for a number of years and have decided to get back into it. Even though I live in California now I grew up in Binghamton. I was talking with Ernie at Audio Classics and got talking about my old stomping grounds. We actually know a few of the same people.... small world. Anyway, going to get my first McIntosh piece in a very long time.

Have to bring my wife slowly into the hi end audio world. She has never know, heard or experienced what a good setup can do. Will have to start small, but never know were it will go from there.

Will start by streaming audio. Going to use a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 as a dedicated machine for the McIntosh. I already have it setup with J. River and Sirius radio. I have ripped all my CDs and am ready to roll. just have to get the Mc now ....

Default Update

Hello All-

To close this out, took a ride to A/C and listened for several hours. In the end, decided on a single 275. It was close but just preferred it to the 452.

To my ear an improvement over the 352 and able to drive the LS 360's quite adequately. I do plan to sell the 360's in the not too distant future and most likely move to the Legacy Focus SE's.

Thanks for all of your comments, experiences and suggestions in my upgrade path.
