how would you describe the "seductive" sound of the S5? Is it mellower, more lush, less detailed?

the Q3 is the good alternative at the S5.

- working with Passlabs
Raidho, which Pass Labs amp(s) are you using with the S5s?

I have a XP20 & x250.5 & 2x XA100.5

S5 listen with this ampli at my home and by the dealer with XA160.5

side by side Q3 and S5: the S5 win always.

I go receive a Graphob diablo: listen with S1 and the S5 too: this Diablo is very amazing: integrate? yes but wow man, better vs. the Brystom 7Bsst2. (much more power for the speaker -> ampere!!)

The S5 are very easy to drive:

from XA100 and XA160 is very little the difference.

with the Xp20 (83dB max. level - last edition from xp20) I listen with my 802di at 55dB very good and is the same the S5 and Xa100.5 (and x250.5 too)

with the 160.5 you can "save" arounf 5dB. but are really muchas enough for the S5.

for the Q3 the X160. give a little more pleasure but the sound of the Q serie is very differente vs, the S.

The S is really more aficionado : for the the S5 is the perfect speaker at today. price / perfomance are very good. the Q3 are great no word but the S5 give you a lot more enjoy.

I also listened to the Q3 and the S5 at the dealer's. Both were wonderfully good. The Q3 had a sligt edge in resolution. In the end, I prefered the more relaxed presentation of the S5. I also think the S5 has more bass output and can play louder.

Hope they are not gonna make S7 later!

Mr Irv once told me just before S5'introduction that it will have more bass
But it will never have the resolution of Q. When you have higher resolution,
Electronics , cables, all electrical contacts and connectors are the key.
If everything is well taken care of, I am sure Q can also be as sweet and engaging,
In a higher level. If there is still a standard wall sockets left in the chain, then no no.

PS, there are 3 posts dedicated for S5 down below. A great length discussion
About S5 will be better responded there.
