I am about to demo (in a couple weeks) the new Shindo D’ Yquem 300B. I don't know what tubes they will use, but I'm excited to finally get to hear these.

As for the Giscours, I never heard the more recent version (Siemans tubes I believe vs. Western Electric 349A) but would like to know what you think?

I want to clarify the comment I made regarding 300B "bass slam" versus the GM-70's.

As you may know, the 300B's are really designed for a 16-ohm speaker and at least 96-98DB sensitivity, or the amp is being compressed. So my (94db) Coincident Pure Referrence speakers will limit their bass.

With the 18w capability of the new Shindo D'Yquem, I'd expect to get more bass slam while enjoying the "dlilcate presentation" of the lower watt 300B.

I'll keep you posted as I demo the D'Yquem.

I wonder how the WE300B monos(the vintage model with the brass badge in front) i have just bought will sound with my avantgarde trio omega speakers....
anyone with experience on the differences between the those and the earlier and later limited models please feel free to chime in.

Slightly off topic, what's your experience with avantgarde and shindo, thinking of getting some duo's to got with shindo pre and mono's.

dear Paul,
the AV trio omega puts out a different flavor of sound compared to shindos own speakers(having heard the latour once at the dealers) , it seems to me that the sound can be very fast, dynamic and enjoyable on well recorded music.
however bass integration is the hardest part and im still in the process of figuring out myself on what path to take.
