Also, make sure you guys powder your belt. All turntable belts have to be powdered, we can't ship powder with the belts anymore because last time Homeland Security called us up and thought we were shipping Anthrax.

I found that Johnson's baby powder worked wonders on the belt on my Aries 3 'table. Not only did it eliminate the pesky creaking noise at start-up, it left the plinth with a healthy, rosy glow.

Is the talc power on rubber belts something that should be done with all rubber platter drive belts no matter the manufacturer or only on VPI turntables? I have never used talc on my Mitchell Gyro SE belt but may try it if this is something that is beneficial.

I was thinking of a VPI classic as a second deck to my garrard 301 but after reading this I will look at other options. I have never understood why a manufacturer would suggest repairing a brand new purchase. I think this stinks.

Yes baby power is what we used to do. Mr. Cucumber I'm sorry to hear about your doubt in the VPI Classic 1. There was unusual circumstances that happened with the Classic 2 Piano black. I believe we got everything figured out together in the end. We take our customer's satisfaction very seriously. We're all American Made and like to view everyone as being part of the family. If you choose a different deck for your second deck I hope it brings you the sound you're looking for but I'm confident that you would not be disappointed with a VPI.

Heck, we are closed this week and we are still here answering the phones, taking orders, and answering emails. We love our job

I don't know who they were dealing with at VPI but the dealer who stepped up and bit the bullet to help him was Galen Carol who my friend continues to buy from for his support.

Galen Carol is a fantastic dealer! Off topic, he also has the best chocolates you can find! If I remember correctly, that was back during our massive factory move and had a lot of fly by night staff at the time. We are human and we have made mistakes but we are always working to improve ourselves and the experience for our customers.

I will change the tone and state that I have been a very happy VPI owner for 7 years this February. I love the sound of my Scoutmaster 10.5i arm Aluminum platter SDS. I have upgraded several times from the base model, something a lot of companies don't provide -- upgrade path. I am confident my upgraded table is nearly as good as a new classic 3. I could add the 3D arm if so desired. Also, I recently called VPI and talked to someone about maybe springing for the super feet. When i told him my table is sitting on a symposium ultra shelf he said .. Why , you would be throwing your money away. Refreshingly honest good people. I just installed Benz LP-S ... Amazingly good combination.
