Nice thread,
I have heard all and the 2301 is the king, the sound is just perfect and can compete with any amp at any price. The 275 sounds very nice, warm and beautiful and the GL tubes bring the best in them. That said I have the MC75 60th and I made the comparison to the 275 and what I like is that has a much tighter bass, is a scale down 2301, great low detail, nice mid range not overly warm, and extended silky highs, of course I use GL on the amp, my Valhalla interconnect helps. I find the MC75 60th to be a very good power amp with a great punch and able to drive many speakers. The more time goes by the more I like the 60th system.

Everything that was learned on MC2301 and MC75 60th has been applied to the new MC275 LE. If modern and more extended and controlled on the bottom are goals the Limited Edition will be the best MC275.
Ron - this advantage may have gotten lost in the mix - I wasn't aware of it anyway. This to me makes the new MC275 even more desireable.

FashionBoy - you'll love your new MC275! Lots of great options for tube rolling after you've had it for awhile. And welcome to AA!

2KWbelgium... Welcome To AA! Glad you liked the review.

GaryProtein - you're so right, horses for courses, as they say. I still think some blues records sound best played on one of thse portables with the fold down TT and detachable speakers!

Angel,
Great to hear that the MC75 is sounding similar to the MC2301. That will make it a winner for sure!

Tom

Default Mc240 ?

Where would you put the MC240 in this mix ?

I have my Dad's 1961 240 and his 1965 MX 110 Z driving Sonus Faber Concertinos in a small den system. Input is a Mac MCD 205.

Great Post BTW, love the measured discourse w passion on this site.

Hi Tom,

I noticed the name plate on the mc275 is gold. Did you change that? WHere did you get the gold name plate.

Great write up!

Jim,
Not sure, maybe someone who owns a 240 could chime in?

Paul,
I bought the amplifier from fellow AA member Mike (Dj_AmTraX). He swapped out the nameplate and can probably tell you where he got it. I think it looks vey classy with the chrome chassis.

They truly are amplifiers built for a lifetime.
That is a partial quote from my post in this thread on March 13, 2012. Those sweet MC2301 amplifiers are still in my studio system driving the SF Amati Anniversario's. After four years I still have no desire to change a thing. The MC2301's are keepers.

Tom.......I reread your review. Excellent writing.
