I'm new here,
I recently got to hear a Hegal H300 integrated and this integrated sounded pretty good. It demonstrated a nice soundstage and for it's price the imaging is good. |

PioneerGuy.......I haven't seen a great deal of interest on the forum for Yamaha electronics beyond a few vintage pieces. I did a quick search on the Yamaha A-S3000 integrate amplifier and was surprised to see what Yamaha has come up with. It is a nice looking product, although I wish Yamaha would abandon the rectangular shaped knobs. MSRP $6999.99
•100 watts x 2 channels into 8 ohms (20-20,000 Hz) at 0.07% THD (minimum RMS power) •150 watts x 2 channels into 4 ohms (20-20,000 Hz) at 0.07% THD •4-ohm capability allows use with a wide range of speakers •signal-to-noise ratio: 103 dB (CD, etc.), 93 dB (phono MM), 85 dB (phono MC)

Very tasty. Yamaha's first stereo pieces into the U.S. were silver-faced receivers and integrated amps starting around 1970. They all had those flat-knob selector switches, so that is a throw-back to those pieces. Too bad Yamaha, more-or-less, pulled out of the higher end of things around the mid-80s. While not Accuphase, certainly excellent gear and the vintage stuff has a well deserved following. Especially some of their esoteric pieces like the VFET amps (like the B-1 & B-2) and their Centennial Series. A couple of their tuners (T-85 & TX-1000) are considered to be about as good as it gets if you are a DXer. I would probably still own either the CA-2010 or A-2000 if either were remote capable (too old for that - them & me ).
Almost forgot. The Cary SLI-80 with upgraded caps and 'Winged-C' 6550s is still the best sounding integrated amp I've heard. Eventually I'll break down and try it with a pair of KEF LS50s.
