Have the 611s already arrived? When buying my 611s I compared them with a 462 on KEF Blades. I didn't need 30" to be convinced of the 611s. Much more dynamics, separation and something fluffy called "air".

realistically the only upgrade path from the 462 is two 611's... I don't look forward to the day when I need to do this, as I already have a great audio rack and finding a place for two amps, vs one will not be fun!

BTN..... I know that this thread is a bit on the older side, but I still want to compliment you on your nice system. I'm sorry if I missed it somehow, but what is powering your center speaker? In fact, what model is the center speaker between your beautiful B&W 802D3s?
Once again, nice system

MC611 vs MC601
MC611 Club..... Please excuse the [monoblock] rookie question, but what are the advantages of the MC611 over the venerable MC601s that Dan (jdandy) made so famous...and, in case you don't know what that means, Dan is the AAF legend who started the MC601 club.
Here's the photo of one of Dan's MC601 meters that made quite an impression on me (please notice his words about headroom):

None that I have heard. I really wanted to see if ‘upgrading’ was worth it but I couldn’t hear any differences. |

This video is worth a watch. I speaks to the difference.

Good Point!

I watched the video and they were getting into the technical aspects of the changes more than anything else. Regardless, SMC23 makes a good point. Can anyone really hear a big enough difference to justify all that goes with an upgrade? EDIT: Upon viewing the video some more, they seem to be saying that there's no comparing the two monoblocks. Well, that's a whole lot different than what I've heard from others, including SMC23.

Thanks for your kind words. My Center is B&W HTM1-D3 and it's currently powered by the Bryston 9BST which also drives my B&W Surrounds SCM. I like very much the combo of Mac Amps and B&W speakers.

Regardless, I commend you on your choice of speakers and your choice of a multichannel amp. Is the 9BST spec'd at 200W per channel? How many channels did you plug into the 9BST's chassis? Like I said, I'm keen to learn about the Bryston brand. I also agree with your observation of Mac-driven B&W loud speakers. When we had the B&W 800D3s demonstrated for us, earlier this year, each speaker was driven by a Mac MC1.2KW monoblock. Although I'm a bona fide rookie in this regard, they were streaming digital tunes for the demo and, quite frankly, they were getting a lot of sound out of those D3s with very little power from those McMonoMonsters! To say that those MC1.2KWs have headroom to spare is an enormous understatement. Here's a "picture" that tells the story much better than I can...
