Randy the soffit has been stuffed with the quiet batt. The same insulation as in the walls of the theatre room.

So, I’m taking that as a yes - stuffed with quiet batt they function as a bass trap. I think that is a brilliant idea. You get great performance that is practically invisible. Bravo!
