+1 Smoke has some of the best new and old acts in the city. Be forewarned though that it is small and now you have to eat dinner there to get a table. Or else have to sit at the bar. George Coleman, Harold Maybern, joe Farnsworth and a few others play there regularly. Saw Mary Stallings there recently too.
Also highly recommend the Jazz Standard on 27th St. Sometimes there are also great acts at BB Kings too. Saw Keb Mo there a month ago!
