I also wasn't sure how it would "accept firmware updates"?

Did I have to attach the update software via a usb stick?

And how would I answer prompts? Which buttons or is it knobs to twiddle? to answer yes?

Too many variables for my tiny mind!

No, disconnect all interconnects and power cord. Wait about 15 minutes to let capacitors drain then you can stick your fingers in with no problem.

You would download the firmware from the McIntosh website to your laptop then you would attached a USB cable from the c2500 to the laptop. Click in the firmware icon that you just downloaded and follow directions. I believe it was only one or 2 steps. Took less than a minute.

a. Disconnect the AC power.
b. Remove the bottom cover – Yes turn the unit over.
c. Locate the main microcontroller. It is the square IC approx. 1cm across on the control PCB.
d. Locate the two buttons adjacent to the microcontroller labeled “PROG” and “RESET”.
e. Press and hold the “PROG” button while also plugging in the AC power cord. This will take some dexterity.
f. Hold the “PROG” button for at least 10 seconds to properly load the default boot loader.
g. After 10 seconds remover the AC power cord and release the button.
h. Re-apply the AC power once again.
i. The unit will be on – sort of… The front panel display will be dark and all the red LEDs will be lit. This is expected. The unit is now in update mode and should accept the firmware update.
j. NOTE: When the update software is run and the unit is discovered, the attached device model will be listed as “unknown”. This is expected. Just answer all prompts in the affirmative.
I read step e has the power is ON, with your fingers inside the electronics.

Anyhow, the techies have it now.

Its back and fixed

Firmware for system and USB needed a total reboot/reflash and has now also been upgraded. Loose power button was fixed too.

Crossing fingers it stays that way.

What is the last version of each firmware they put in your unit?

Yes, I would like to know as well. Btw I also have a button issue on my c2500 but hate to part with it. I use the remote with no problem.

Congrats on getting back your c2500!

I believe the latest should be V1.03, and read no more updates after this and hopefully so as it relates to basic function, support of new features is a different story. The unit should just now simply work, best to all, and Happy Listening!
