Radio shack meter and 2 JL 113 subs
Do you use the test tones and measure to circa 85db? As my other speakers?
Seems low when used on the sub and the meter appears to be in the Bermuda Triangle when it comes to using it for sub test tones. (Digital meter C slow) |

There are correction tables for the Radio Shack meters on the internet. Apparently, low frequency measurements with these meters come out low (amount of error dependent on frequency of test tone).
Here's correction values for one model of Radio Shack meter: LF corrections for Radio Shack 33-2055 meter These are for the current digital meter used as a microphone. First number is Hz, second is error. 10 -5.66 11 -5.25 12 -4.66 13 -4.20 14 -3.80 15 -3.50 16 -3.30 17 -3.10 18 -2.90 19 -2.70 20 -2.50 21 -2.30 22 -2.10 23 -1.95 24 -1.80 25 -1.60 26 -1.40 27 -1.15 28 -1.00 29 -0.90 30 -0.75 31 -0.65 32 -0.55 33 -0.44 34 -0.33 35 -0.22 36 -0.11 37 0.00 So, you can see that 20 Hz is actually 2.5 dB lower than the reading on the meter. You can easily correct this in your setup. I hope this helps. There are tables available for the other model Radio Shack meters as well if you search. Lee |

Thanks for the welcome.
Please note when setting up two JL F113s (my goal, currently have 1 of them), there are significant differences if you configure them as master/slave or two masters. I'll be back online soon and offer some thoughts as to setup. Thanks, Lee |

As master/slave, the ARO will adjust both subs together. As dual masters, you'll have to run ARO on each, then set overall volumes for even response. Note that the interaction between the two subs may cause other frequency response irregularities, so another round of SPL meter tests can help.
