As an aside, I believe the OP resides in the UK and unfortunately Shindo is not imported into the UK because it is not EC compliant.

Anyone any experience of the new Aesthetix Eclipse?

Do you mean the Aesthtix IO Eclipse? A friend of mine has one with volume control and a line level input.
It has amazing build quality, the tube rectified power supply is wonderful. It sounds glorious, liquid and dynamic. It is VERY tweeky and temperamental. If you change an input and don't follow the proper order of operations serious damage to the IO itself or any component downstream is possible. There are NO protection circuits. I have an Aesthetix Rhea which is much easier to use, not quite as quiet as the IO, has a remote control, etc. I love it and would highly recommend it. If funds permit I would consider upgrading to the IO Eclipse since I have a remote controlled McIntosh C500T. Mike S. |

Thanks for that Mike, yes I did mean the Io Eclipse. I have heard they can be noisy and a bit temperamental with all those tubes.

Yes, but so sweet when treated well.

Have finally made a switch from the ARC ref2 phono. I auditioned a few phono stages including the Allnic 3000. Could not get hold of any Shindo gear.
However managed to to obtain a 2nd hand Dartzeel 18ns pre with built in phono. This is now producing the best vinyl sound I have heard at home or anywhere else for that matter. Plus, as a bonus, it is optimised to work with my Playback design MPS, so CD playback has also improved. |
