Actually I did, their interface is quite amazing. It is so slick, fast and intuitive. Not only can you sort your library by the usual; artist, genre, alpha, track, etc. You have a time line, where you could select rock & roll from 72' to 82' for example. Lightning fast too!

The Sooloos Control is so slick. Amazing hi-rez touch screen graphics, not to mention every search feature under the sun for your library.

I absolutely love their interface, even their new iPad app is cool with the small-box setup (pictured below)



I have only two gripes with Sooloos:
1) They continue to maintain the notion that being completely proprietary with their hardware solution is the right thing to do... if it isn't a SoolooS product on your network - you are screwed, basically
2) They are not viewing their interface (gui) as a separate marketable item, which would be HUGE and revolutionary to the rest of the industry, if it ever was freed from the confines of a TwinStore/Control15 setup.

They're definitely missing a golden opportunity. This interface could easily dominate the server marketplace.

I agree with number one, at least for more open NAS storage support. Of course, as part of Meridian, it's hard to ever really see that come as the parent company is in the hardware business. On the playback side, at least they allow for streaming to something other than their hardware (Sooloos Mac/PC app and through a web browser).

Point 2 is very similar to point number one as the separation of the GUI from the hardware available for use with other servers probably couldn't be done easily without the use of their database schema as well. At that point, you're not talking about laying a GUI over something like an iTunes database, you're talking about completely replacing that database with the Sooloos one. Since you wouldn't need Sooloos hardware at all, demand for those pieces would drop considerably. On the other side, support infrastructure needed for the open software solution would be far higher than any other product they have in the company (the software business, especially one where you have to account for a variety of hardware combinations, is a very different animal). So what do you charge then per license to make up for that? At some point, it becomes a monumental headache that doesn't make you enough money to justify and strays far away from the core of what the rest of the company does. As a result, I think I can say pretty safely that this would never happen.

I certainly love mine....

And perfectly happy to have it an all in one solution. I spend enough time screwing around with turntables. I love the fact that Sooloos is no fuss no muss. And as you can see, I've been busy ripping CD's too!
