First, Bryston amps are ugly compared to Accuphase products. If you are going to hide it away than no problem. Second, the build quality of Accuphase is on another level. Just watch the videos on how meticulous the Japanese are. Third, the power rating is similar and I can imagine both can drive most speakers. I can imagine the Bryston amp is a fraction of the cost of the 4200. Not sure where you are located, but unless in Japan you will be paying a premium for the 4200. Accuphase outside of Japan is 2x-3x as much the yen price. If ordering from Japan you may need to look at converting the voltage. Sound quality, well this is up to the listener and the type of gear. Accuphase is a musical warmer sound than Bryston, but that is my opinion. You will need to determine. I can imagine the Accuphase gurus have more to chime in on this topic.

Wow, what's with all the Bryston looks bashing in my feed lately? I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and there is some beautiful equipment out there, but I like the look of my 14bsst2. Bryston spends their money "inside the box".

If you have the money, then I think Accuphase is the way to go... but, there is nothing wrong with Bryston power...

I have quite a bit of understanding of Bryston since I have once built a theater/2 channel system around them. Effortless dynamics, crisp transients, unveiled and rather tonally neutral presentation in conjunction with the Sonus Faber Elipsa speakers I was using at the time, overall a very nicely balanced combo providing proper synergy for my taste.

The rest of the system has to be taken into consideration. I have very limited experience with Accuphase having only heard it a few times but I would say the Accuphase would be more synergistic with more neutral or forward sounding systems/speakers where as Bryston would pair better with speakers exhibiting tendencies towards a warmer, more romantic presentation.

I certainly would not call Bryston Amps ugly, but I understand everything is ones opinion.................for me Bryston has always had a "Understated Elegance" as far as looks go.
