I think you are off on this. I would never ship anything of value without requiring the individual to sign for it. Also, I have called Olive on multiple occasions during regular business hours (Pacific Time) and have always been able to speak to someone. The only issue this week might have been everyone was off for the holidays, just like many people and businesses.

Cisco

I understand your thoughts, however it's just about the holiday schedule no doubt.
You may indeed be making more to this than you need to, but you feel how you feel.

Fed Ex is what it is. Fuss at them for not trying to deliver at a time that is convenient
for your signature! I also missed my first Olive delivery attempt but it was because
I had my music turned up too loud during their 5:30p attempt.

The next day I was practically checking the front door hourly. Once it arrived all was right in the world.

All my dealings with Olive Customer Service have been above and beyond. You can be assured this week is not a normal schedule. Patience will lead you a wonderful experience with your new Olive.

Jimmy

Thanks guys for your feedback....much appreciated. I just wanted to inform anyone interested that not all is great out there.......just airing my experience and opinions.

During the holiday season I would think that a company would at least inform customers or potential customers that because of the "season"........ a notice on their web site would suffice.... that a reduction in certain services will be curtailed, but I guess that would be asking too much of them.

Jerome....I'm not blaming Olive for using Fedex....but I do blame them for the lack of communication.

Jim....I wished I had the opportunity to make that call....but then again, that phone might be still ringing now or a machine could have picked up.

Dan....at least it was delivered on time and without a sig ...barring any damage of course.

As of this minute the box will remain sealed and I will wait to see what Olive has to say. Unless they come up an acceptable reason for their lack of service or a very lame excuse ....I'm sending this one back. I'm sure there are other music servers out there that I could be interested in.

Cisco, be cool buddy. You have 2 choices- 1) be happy your bid won, start ripping your collection and let the amazing resolution from that really nice piece of equipment melt away the negatives that happened.
2) repeat choice #1

+1 You got a great deal and you should enjoy the player. Returning the unit because of FedEx is a mistake!! Good Luck finding a better server for the price...... Open the box and Thank me later....

Cisco....

Of course, you are free to take the decision you desire to, but honestly, you're completely overreacting here.
You could have had this problem with any company in the world.
I personnaly never ask for a shipping during the end of year holiday : too risky.
There might be something else in your reticence to open this package, something that you're not even conscious.
Did your wife say something unpleasant about this purchase ? Do you believe that the chances are high that the spund won't be as good as what you would expect ? Have you put your eyes on an other server lately and thought "oh, this one would be cool" ? I also may have a part of responsibility in the bad image I gave to this server. If I did so, I apologize towards Olive and to you.
I will repeat here what I said many times : to me, soundwise, the Olive 6 HD as an integrated unit, does not need a separate dac and sounds gorgeous, stunning and wonderful. I have had troubles of reliability with 2 units and a very poor communication with the dealer in Paris who sold me the unit, and I decided to stop the experience. I am confident that Olive resolved this problem and that you will be fine with your unit. Olive itself have been great to deal with when I had the problem. I always found someone on the phone, who tried to find a solution and was TRULY sorry for what happened. They were just unable to tell me if being outside the US, I could get a refund because this would also concern their importer and I believe that I was the first guy outside the US to ask for a refund.
But you have the chance to live in the US : so Olive will honor their policy if finally you don't like the unit.
So just try it and send it back if you don't like it. What do you have to loose ?
We live in a society of consumption. We buy, we buy, we buy stuff that are not necessarily our needs, but reflect a desire at the instant i. Sometimes we do make mistakes. Olive's confidence in their products is so high that they let you try it at home for 30 days. Not many companies offer this service.
