Default Shindo and the EU

Hi everyone,
Having purchased a giscours on Audiogon several months ago my intention was to hang around for a set of shindo mono's to appear. However, I did reach out to a potential Euro Importer only to find out that the EU was cracking down because of the guideline RoHs. This guideline concerns the content of hazardeous substances like quicksilver, cadmium, lead etc...

When I think back to the giscours traveling from auckland via Australia, main land china and then to Basel before finally getting to Geneva I picture FedEx hiding it in a vegetable cart as they wheel it into the canton. Technically Suisse is not part of the EU but there are no resellers in the country.

Are there any members out there with recent euro purchasing experience?

Otherwise I might have to purchase from the states (220v) and make arrangements with the local shindo underground supplying my own cart at the border...

Any thoughts appreciated,serious or not,
Paul

My Shindo has the CE sticker on the back--maybe they have caved in-(one or the other)
and the product is allowed into the EU after all again.
I know the solder was one of the issues-Cadmium? no LFD attenuation that I'm aware of.

Good Luck in your quest,

DesW

That's interesting Des... the Shindos we have received down our way lately haven't had a CE sticker... how old is your one?

Isn't the issue ROHS compliance, and not CE certification?

So you mean that since Shindo is not RoHS, you cannot import one in Switzerland ?

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I doubt one could be sold there, although you may be able to import one privately.

In France, no distribution of course.
But private importation is allowed.
