Default What is your best sport moment

I play hockey 2x a week and I love it. I hav had a lot of great moments including a goal with 2 seconds left to win a playoff game.

But for me the moment I am most proud of is when I competed in and finished the Shenandoah Mountain 100 mile bike race. As a person who lives in FL I had no real way to train for the climbs and to top it off I had only started mountain biking the year before (at the age of 43). It took me a long time to finish and I really wondered what the hell I was doing at times. When I crossed the line it was one of the best feelings I ever had. I went on to do many endurance bike races after this one but there is nothing like your first

Getting ready to start

Mid race -- I seem to have left the pack . . or did they leave me?

A couple of hole-in-ones and a 3 Run walk-off game winning homer in Little League. (and too many strike outs in Legion ball to keep playing and too short a temper to ever make any money at golf)

I've lots of good sports memories but the one I'm most fond of came in my Junior year in high school. Wrestling at a local tournament I pinned my opponent in 11 seconds, I had others that were fast but this one I never really got close to besting.

Two big sporting moments for me:

- Under 21 Rugby Final at Eden Park in 1984 - Grammar Old Boys (my Team) verses Ponsonby Rugby Club (perhaps the most famous Rugby Club in New Zealand). Even though we lost by a very small margin, running out onto that Famous ground was amazing- & I to play the best game of my rugby career was a bonus. Too many concussions in a short period of time forced me to stop playing 3 years later- Ill never forget that game.

- Fighting in the Auckland Karate Champs in 2009- 5th in the Super Veterans Kata (my Kata is ordinary so I was wrapped at my placing) & even though I was disqualified in the Kumite Comp (knocked out my opponent & broke his nose- he tried to block my punch with his head!) I fought well & beat opponents graded far higher than me (I was a lowly 5th Kyu Blue Belt & beat 2 1st Kyu Brown Belts before disqualification) Im sure I could have won the Super Vets Grade but for my silly opponent who didn't defend himself.

In South-Africa we have a gruelling Ultra Marathon called the Comrades Marathon. Its a 54 Mile race in hot and humid conditions, and alternating direction each year to make it either an up or down run.

In my young days I did the up run it in 6 hours and 32min, coming 95th out a field of 15000 runners. My best memory and moment in Sport.

I am now trying to get fit again, also just bought a mountain bike. Hope to get in shape soon to start doing races

My absolutely top moment would be many, many years ago playing 4 games (I couldn't even finish the set!) vs. a promising 1982-born kid on the courts of Concordia Basel. A certain R. Federer wiped the floor with yours truly but what an experience.

In all honesty "my" best moment in sports does not involve me actually competing. You see, I work as a football scout, basically detecting talent and eventually getting them to sign.

I have worked all around Europe for nearly 20 years now, however the past 6-7 I have been working in England. One day I was so fortunate to witness our club back then winning the Cup, 3 of my compatriots on the field lifting the trophy at Wembley.

Don't think I need to remind you about the England v Argentina issues and our traditional differences, but that afternoon was indeed very special as the 3 players (whose arrival to the club I had been a part of / contributed to) grabbed the Cup, put an Argie flag beneath and asked me to come into the pitch for us 4 to celebrate. I thought for the UK and international team-mates to let us do that and then even sign my shirt for the posterity was a great gesture. Overall a final that as an Argie national I will never, ever forget.

Hmmm... difficult to choose one, but the first one to come to mind is when I won the mile at the annual Tri-County Invitational in school-record time against a very strong field. It had been the oldest record on the books at the time.

The 2004 American League playoffs between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox. The Sox were down 3-0 in the series and won 4 straight to eliminate the Yankees Boston went on to sweep the St Louis Cardinals 4-0 to win their first World series since 1918. I wish my Dad was with me to enjoy it

Yes folks, I am a red sox fan and I hate the Yankees
