Not to stoke a dead fire (and there's really only one pair of headphones in the entire lineup that I think sound truly terrible) but the problem with Beats is that the way they alter the music is so drastic that it truly can't be overlooked as say, the "character" of the product.
It's not that one headphone has a darker sound and another has a more mid-centric sound, it's that the aim of the headphones design was to alter the sound of the music from the gecko. I like knowing that my headphones have a close-to flat response. I like putting music through them and being able to confidently say that yes, this is how the music IS supposed to sound. That's why Beats don't appeal to me but as a consumer product they're genius. |

My brother bought a pair of these for my nephew for Christmas. I had a chance to listen to them. They...suck! Way to bass heavy and very bright. My nephew liked them, but at 13, what does he know.

It may not be your genre, but your thoughts on how it sounds with Rap music?

The only model that I feel sounds truly awful are the Solo HDs. They sounded like a bloated midbass mess, even on the Beats demo tracks. The Mixr, Studio and Executive on the other hand didn't sound bad at all.
