Default Pass ACA monoblocks!

I (finally) finished my other AmpCamp amp yesterday. Took me most of the day, but I am very careful and meticulous with my build.

Have to say that as good as the little AmpCamp amp is; it really sings as a pair of bridged mono blocks!

Quite impressive, especially when you consider each amp cost all of $327 plus about $35 in premium parts.

More later, but I am really enjoying these "big" little amps!

(apologies for the cheesy iPhone 6S pic...I'll fix that later)

Stephen,
I had to look that one up - I experienced some serious cognitive dissonance with seeing such a high-end name as Pass along with your description of a kit amp. How cool is that!!! Good for Nelson!

Glad you enjoyed not only the build but the sound. Audio kits are very cool - my mechanical engineer wife and I enjoyed building a Triode tube integrated amp a number of years ago and we learned a lot. Look forward to your further impressions.

Yes, Nelson came up with a design for Class A amp back in 2016 for the Burning Amp festival held every fall in San Francisco. The get-together was dubbed Amp Camp, and everyone who attended got to build and leave with their own amp. Hence, AmpCamp Amp.

The latest version of the AmpCamp Amp aka ACA is a revised build referred to as v1.8.

This design is pretty cool as you can run it as a stereo amp, or...bridged or parallel monoblocks.

How does it sound on the Dyns, and compared to the CJ amp you were using before?

I would love to build a couple of these amps but my hands are not as steady as they once were.

They do not look too difficult or complex... Give it a go and surprise yourself!

Very nice. One of my audio buds has both a Pass amp (stereo - think it is an Aleph) and a Pass preamp that he recently put a digital remote control volume into.
What are your ACA amps rated power-wise?

15 Watts/channel as bridged monos. Plenty, as I listen at only ~68-74 dB, on average.

Stephen - that would be plenty for me. Am listening to 20wpc with class-A tubes and my system has never sounded better. Like you, 99% of my listening is in the 68-74dB range (with an occasional foray into 'head-banger' territory).

From what I understand looking at the diystore, the input connection must be XLR to bridge the amp for 15wpc as a monoblock. As my pre-out is only single-ended RCA, would a simple RCA-XLR adapter accomplish this?
