Next pleasant discovery: Shan Audio.

This little sucker filled the room easily, and Jacques asked where the hidden sub was kept.

10 inches high, very well made, and all this for 1149€ a pair.
Jacques said: "the big names in loudspeaker land can start worrying!".

Check their website, they seem to have a couple of very interesting lines.

Source was an Electrocompaniet integrated.

We didn't hear this:

Next surprising room:

The driver:

Sounded much better than it looked.

Of course, it is completely hidden, so looks aren't that important.

Next room: the ladder DACs from Metrum Acoustics.
They get splendid reviews.
I'd like to hear them in a top system.

Next room also ends in our shortlist of favourites: Grimm Audio.

I posted a thread recently about a 5.0 system with Grimm Audio:

Shan audio is punching well above its weight. The little red one reminded me of the Proac Tablette. Big sound from a small package. The distributor walked around with a big grin on his face, he knows this is a killer line of speakers. The new kid on the block, bold and brash “yeah...bring it on”

After the world premiere in München, this was the first time the BeNeLux could see the MU1.

It has all kinds of outputs and inputs.

FM, DAB+, Streamer (Tidal, Qobuz, ...), Bluetooth, internal SSD (2 Tb, later bigger ones), possibility to output multi channel.
Claimed to have extremely low jitter.
It will cost 6K.
A MU2 will cost 8K and will have a DAC on-board.

The YG Acoustics Sonja merits its own post. I expect it to be ready sometime next week. On YG’s website, the tag line for the Sonja is “Pure Seduction”...as understatements go, this is one for the books.

Again, the Grimm LS1be was totally convincing.
Very well integrated drivers.
Beautifully musical sound, holographic soundstage.
Add a MU1, and for 40K, you have a top system!

Guido Tent, one of the 2 brains behind the Grimm Audio speakers and server explained us that their concepts don't require expensive wires.
Proof: extension cords of 1€ per meter were in use.
Blasphemy in hifi land!

Audio Note was demoing a system with components worth all around 3K.

Pretty fine, although more than a tad coloured sound when you just come from a room full of Grimm Audio perfection...
