I'm not much of a poster, more of a reader, but I always keep an eye on this forum! I'm pretty interested in the QX-5 (I currently own the QB9-DSD, and KX-5 twenty and VX-5 twenty)... not sure I can stretch the funds right now for this one. Hopefully my dealer can get one relatively soon so I can try it out!

Frankly, after spending as much as many spend on a car (or three if in India) or on a child's full four years college education on a single Ayre product, only to be pretty much blown off by 'Michael' when I called in with a question that Audio Consultants (my AD) couldn't answer, my thinking about both of them is....meh.....

What was the question they couldn't answer? Curious.

Hi Aardvarkbark,

You keep giving slack to Ayre, most of us have very good experience with Ayre, great service. Maybe it was the way you asked ?

I'm a McIntosh owner but over the years I have owned some expensive Ayre equipment. I had nothing but excellent experiences with Ayre. The sound is open, very neutral, and smooth. I have never heard more a more neutral transparent sound than from Ayre. I buy Mac for other reasons having nothing to do with sound or quality. I am sure this new piece will exceed all expectations.

I emailed Ayre about 20 series upgrades and they responded in a few days with a local tech contact who quoted me on the request. No mess, no fuss and certainly no blowing me off.

Zero complaints here and a great product without doubt.

Will the QX5 have a balanced headphone out? I'm about to get a pair of Auedeze LCD-3's and want to run balanced. I was hoping NOT to have to get a balanced amp for the system. Thanks.
