My number came up in the queue, and I've got my KX-5, VX-5, AND (just by coincidence!) my QB-9 is up for the upgrade too. All of them are being upgraded now, excited to hear the difference! Hard to A/B the difference when so much is changing and a month between listening or so.

For me, reducing the heat in the VX-5 is important, and I did notice that some dc from the preamp was 'leaking' into the VX-5 when changing volume at high levels. No signal needed, something inherently in the switching. I'd never listen that loud anyway, just came across it by coincidence. Looks like they've updated that as well (though it could've been just my unit, dealer said he didn't find the same thing).

Anyway, happy times, totally love my Ayre gear and it's just about to get better

That's great news.

I've received my VX-5 back from Ayre with the Twenty upgrade about a week ago and breaking it in now. Although I've moved my ProAc speakers from my stereo into my home theater system in preparation for the arrival of my new speakers and now listening to my home theater speakers in my 2 channel rig, so far I'm impressed with the upgrade. BTW, the amp does indeed run cooler as an added bonus.

What's the thinking around here? Has Ayre left the V-5xe behind? Does anyone see the possibility of upgrades to this amp? Are there structural impediments lying in the way of upgrading the V-5xe?

It doesn't seem like it right now based on a conversation I just had with someone who sells Ayre, but he wasn't 100% for sure. I was fortunate enough to get the first upgrades AX5 as the dealer sold me the demo and sent it in to them for me. He decided not to carry the integrated as that's not really his market. I was in SHOCK when I heard the upgrade as I was very very familiar with the AX5. Just amazing.

Just purchased the A5 and am breaking it in. Traded a Classe integrated. This A5Twenty is definitely cooler (in purely the thermal sense) than the Classe was.

Default do NOT call Ayre with any questions

wow...I've never been so humiliated. Called Ayre to ask some questions about two components just purchased, and learned that end users are NOT supposed to do that. Big mistake spending five figures here, I suppose. What a strange culture to not appreciate customers.

Default owners experience on break in?

Has anyone here bought this A5Twenty? What has your experience been with break-in time? I've had mine for a week with maybe 5 hrs per day. Have yet to hear the definition and bass I was enjoying with the Classe's I traded in. Wondering how soon others started to experience improvement.

I have never had an issue contacting Ayre for support. Mike is excellent. As you have questions on the product, you might try contacting their head of sales, Alex Brinkman. I am sure they will take care of you. Thank you.

I feel like that did not use to be the case. I had a very friendly longish chat just over a year ago.
