James.......Interesting article. I agree with the conclusion. Today's audio gear is better than ever, and the trickle down technology from flagship to more consumer oriented gear has made entry level better than ever. Great to see Bryston get a favorable nod.

Do like that the author still listens to his Bryston PP120 monoblocks. While his are old enough to be out of warranty (20yr+) mine still have a couple of years to go. As he states, still sound great. And, wouldn't surprise me if Bryston would repair for the cost of shipping if there was problem. They are a great company.

I keep and use two power amps that one might regard as vintage. The 5-channel Bryston 9B-ST in my CT system and the McCormack DNA-1, Rev. A that I use in my main system for the rear channels. I have yet to see sufficient reason to replace them.

These are indeed the good old days!
While there aren't any really bad products left on the market, there are some 'not so good ones'. Most of the bad things today revolve around usability, firmware updates, and reliability. Some of my pet peeves are; Cheesy plastic remotes Klunky user interfaces for web and mobile Funky drivers for Windows, iOS Poor network integration Lack of update / upgrade paths, especially for expensive products. Tom
