Here is a picture of Ivan's next theater . How many Mcintosh amps do you think he will need for this one ?

Interesting setup, 1KW. I haven't seen a rear center speaker before, but then again I'm no HT expert. If you get to a lull in the flick, you can play a quick game of billiards.

Since the pictures were posted July 2009 (see previous page) my home theater has started to move toward modestly higher performance, very slowly but surely from where I started. Ivan has been very helpful in this department. While my new home theater set up is modest compared to his, everything I have added has made a huge improvement. I have found that making these decisions for home theater is much more difficult for me than for 2 channel. You can drop 30 grand or more easy on home theater and if your not careful, you may not notice a big difference . Here is what I did since July 2009. My left/right front speakers were changed from a mediocre pair of paradigm's to a pair of Magnepans MGIII's with ribbon tweeters which I had in storeage that were refurbished (this is just a interim step as these will be replaced this year). Two JL-F112 subs were placed next to each maggie speaker replacing one Velodyne sub. which would vibrate and buzz during loud bass. My Yamaha receiver was replaced with a new Mcintosh MX120 surround processor and a new MC207 (200 watt x 7) amplifier. The couch and love seat were replaced with custom ordered full leather Fortress seating. Rear surround speakers are being replaced with brand NOS Mcintosh HT-3 rear surround speakers (just waiting for them to arrive in the mail). Next on my list are the new Oppo 93 bluray player, 3 new front speakers ? (no decisions made here yet) . What I have noticed is that each little change has brought a gradual but noticeable improvement to the home theater experience. While 2 channel is still my main interest home theater is alot of fun too.

I can do whatever I want within reason, in the basement as long as my wife does not have to look at any equipment or speakers upstairs. Needless to say I like to go into the basement for movies and music.
