Default MVP 871 to MX-136

I was at AKfest over the weekend and met up with Chuck Hinton and Ryan from A/C. I thought I was having a problem with the HDMI signal from my MVP- 871 to my MX-136. When I hooked it up by way of the HDMI I got nothing. No sound, no picture just blue screen. Chuck explained it to me and now I understand what I'm doing wrong. I thought it worked just like my MVP-831, but I was so wrong! Seems they pack this book with every piece of gear they sell and they really want you to read it. It's called the owners manual! It seems one must push some button to take it to the HDMI mode. You got to push it twice too just so it's sure that you really want it to do that. I guess it works just like the vents we use in the hospital. You have to double click it to make it change! Now I know. I think I'm just getting too old for these things any more. You actualy have to read the owners manuals these days. How can you keep it mint in the bag if you have to use it? Perhaps they can start packing two into every box???? Cheers, Frank

Hey Frank.....I dl a copy of the manuel from their website and place each page in a clear plastic binder sheet....then I place them in a three-ringed binder. Easy access and the original manuel stays pristine.

Frank.......You've got it all wrong. You need to buy two MVP871's, and store the one you want to sell. That way it will remain pristine, and the next owner will be so please. Then, use the heck out of the one in your system, and don't worry about it.

I was in some audio joint not to long ago and some dude was flapping his gums about how nobody could make a decent owners manual. I respectfully disagreed with him and I mentioned some of my McIntosh user manuals.

The gum flapper refused to believe what I had to say. I walked to my car and returned with my C1000 manual, said shithead shut up. it was a wonderful thing to see.

Same thing happens with me - I leave the plastic with the piece of scotch tape still intact. Just DL and read online, plus CTRL+F is a really fantastic feature.
